Reviews of Marion’s Performances

Snow Queen – March 2018

“One performer who wins everyone’s hearts in every production is the company’s chairperson, Marion Pettet. If anyone asked me what is meant by stage presence I would send that person to Chelmsford for Pettet has it in spades. She has enchanted me every time I have seen her whether as Mrs Stahlbaum, Britannia, Carabosse or in the prologue in Alice. She was Gerda’s grandmother last Saturday, a role that she performed with her usual flair…….Terpsichore Blog”

Alice’s Adventures – March 2017

“No show by Chelmsford Ballet would be complete without an appearance by Marion Pettet. She entered in the prologue, a small role but one that she performed with her usual aplomb…..Terpsichore Blog”

The Sleeping Beauty – March 2016

“…..and of course the magnificent Marion Pettet as Carabosse…..

There is in fact a lot of talent in Chelmsford.  For me, Marion Pettet stole the show as she did last year as Mrs Dimple and Britannia in Pineapple Poll and the mother in Carnival of the Animals.  She positively exuded evil with her rodent like acolytes………………….. Terpsichore Blog”

Pineapple Poll – March 2015

“……the Magnificent Marion as Britannia in Pineapple Poll……………

However, for me the star of the show was Marion Pettet as Mrs Dimple – and Britannia. Last year she was Frau Stahlbaum. A wonderful actor as well as an accomplished dancer and a great chair of the Chelmsford Ballet Company……………..Terpsichore Blog”

“…….not to mention her fussy, overbearing mother, the redoubtable Mrs Dimple, Marion Pettet.….Michael Gray’s Arts Blog”

Carnival of the Animals – March 2015

“……with Marion Pettet as the imperious mother, who has a nice Donkey moment with her maids….Michael Gray’s Arts Blog”

“……and a delicious character role from Marion Pettet, now Chairman of the CBC, as the girl’s formidable mother – a brilliant moment trying on scarves with her three maids, to the strains of Saint-Saens’ braying donkeys. She has a little lap-dog, too, a well-sustained conceit, invisible to the audience, reduced to yaps and yelps on the imaginative sound track…………….Sardines Magazine.”

“Set in a 1930s London Theatre we were entertained by what was to me a totally new side of Marion Pettet’s acting and dancing. She was the very elegant and extremely demanding socialite mother of guest artiste Jasmine Wallis’s Girl who wanted to dance in a modern fashion, but Pettet’s mime was absolutely clear in its intentions to remain unmoved by this. Her graceful performance was underlined by a polished and very precise technique….  Mary Redman”

“Again, Pettet stole the show for me as the bossy, fussy but affectionate mother…..Terpsichore Blog”

The Nutcracker – March 2014

“And not just teenage balletomanes – the character roles were done with relish by, amongst others, Chairman Marion Pettet as the stately Stahlbaum hostess…… Michael Gray’s Arts Blog”

“Marion Pettet as Frau Stahlbaum, ever the gracious host – I loved the way she reprimanded a naughty boy tousling his hair………………… Terpsichore Blog”
