A trip to Leigh Townswomen’s Guild was rather eventful. My younger sister was visiting from Spain and staying with my other sister that lives in Benfleet. I invited them both to come to my talk but only one accepted the invitation. It was my intention to call in to pick her up on the way but unfortunately there was an accident on the A13 directly in front of me, then yet another about 500 yards down the road. Changing lanes at or near the Sadlers Farm roundabout to go around the emergency vehicles was a disaster. I ended up in the queue onto Canvey Island; there was no time to loop back and I didn’t want to be late. My sister will probably never have the pleasure of hearing me talk now; my other sister says she had a lucky escape.
I should have given talks on consecutive Wednesdays to JACS Gants Hill but then I finally succumbed to COVID and one was cancelled. I made an amazing recovery and was able to give the second of the scheduled talks.
Blackwater PROBUS last week and then St John’s Wives, Loughton, today. I love it when people ask questions. I’ve been very lucky to have such engaged audiences.
