I was really happy to take two talk bookings today. I had begun to think that bookings were drying up; just when I’ve added another talk to my repertoire. What was especially nice was that they were both from personal recommendations. That is always nice to hear. Speaker secretaries have quite a difficult job and it is usually a job that is hard to fill. Many groups say that speakers are becoming too expensive, which makes it even harder for small groups. I will always consider reducing my fee for small groups. I would rather make a small donation to the MS Society than no donation. Of course I hear quite frequently at various groups that many “committee” role are hard to fill. One Rotary group has just closed completely because they’re unable to fill any of the necessary roles to keep going.
