It seems that many clubs have had difficulty since the pandemic restrictions were lifted. The speaker Secretary of this U3A had told me that their numbers had decreased; a story that I have heard from many other societies. But, they are still going and that is good, as many others have ceased meeting.
As with many societies and clubs they have difficulty in recruiting people to work on committees. Being on a committee can be rewarding.
I was initially reluctant to stand for election to the committee of a local amateur ballet company but once I had been elected found great enjoyment and satisfaction from the work that I did. A close-knit group of like minded people were able to continue to create something wonderful. I hope that whatever the current difficulties are that there is sufficient enthusiasm and commitment to allow it to continue.
