Last week I gave a talk to Witham Trefoil Guild braving the foul weather, and relying on their members to volunteer to ferry my gear into the hall. Parking can often be a problem and whilst there’s usually helping hands it can be off putting to find that there isn’t anywhere to park or a space hasn’t been reserved, necessitating carrying everything further than one would like.
I’ve just returned from Ilford where I gave my last talk for 2019 (barring any last minute calls for help) and had to park in the multi-storey car park a good distance away. I knew this in advance and decided not to take costumes and tutu to display; now I wonder if I haven’t made life difficult for myself by displaying these items in the first place. I was just able to walk in, plug in and talk.
However, the costumes are very popular and most audiences find them interesting to inspect.
I’m really pleased that I decided to carry on giving talks to interested groups; I’ve met some really lovely people during the past year. Many of these societies and groups have invited me back and many of them pass my details onto other groups to which a member might belong.
But most importantly I’ve raised over £1,400 for the MS Society. So I’m giving my voice a rest until the New Year. Happy Christmas everyone.
