Last night’s talk to the Dining Club was very well received. It is rare that I don’t get a future booking from a talk and this was no exception. One of the local WIs, where I had previously spoken had recommended me to the organiser.
The Ladies meet every 4th Wednesday of the month and although their primary purpose is to keep in touch and enjoy the company over a good meal, they have, over the 16 years of their existence, raised over £40,000 for a variety of charities. Considering that they are a very small group with only 25 members currently, I think that’s an impressive total. Of course, the fee paid to me will also be going to charity.
I was a bit apprehensive about the mix of food, drink and my costumes so I didn’t take my latest costume for fear of it being soiled in some way; I needn’t have worried as the food was served in a different part of the SS8 club to where I gave the talk. A very pleasant evening with pleasant company.
