I returned, finally, to Castle Hedingham. I last visited this group in 2017 so my talks have completely changed in those 5 years. I gave the talk based on costume design and making and there was a real interest in the techniques and materials discussed. They were all very engaged with the subject and asked informed questions.
It was one of those very hot days in July when I gave my talk and was pleasantly surprised by the number of people happy to venture out in the heat. The speaker secretary confided to me that she wasn’t particularly a fan of ballet, but at the end told me how much she had enjoyed my talk.
If I have encouraged someone to “give it a go” when otherwise they’d prefer not to, then I’ve achieved more than I could hope for.
I’ve now had quite a few weeks without any talks, (although open to invitations) with 4 talks booked for October.
After a couple of recent theatre trips, I’ve a couple of amusing anecdotes to add in to my talks somewhere. So now I’m raring to go.
