Many clubs and societies do not meet during the holiday season so Summer was quite a lean time for talks. I re-visited Goldhanger, Little Totham and Tolleshunt Major WI and gave them my “It Won’t Show on Stage” talk. They are a very appreciative group of women who asked some very intelligent questions.
I am looking forward very much to my next talk, to Easton and Tiltey WI followed up by a talk on home turf to Fox Hatch WI. Both in October.
So in the absence of talks and fee donations I continued with fundraising for The MS Society by participating in the sponsored walk around London starting and finishing at Battersea Park. 650 people participated raising a total of £150,000 towards research, campaigning and support for sufferers of this terrible disease.
I visited Brentwood community theatre and had a chat with the Manager, offering some of my marketing skills as a volunteer. I’ve heard the comment “I didn’t know that Chelmsford had a ballet company” so many times; apparently so many local people “didn’t know that Brentwood had a theatre” either. Theatre, whether it is music, dance, acting or any other arts discipline, gives people, especially young people, all sort of benefits that can enrich all parts of their lives, besides being tremendous fun. I hope that I will be able to make a worthwhile contribution.
