Last night’s talk (24th March) had been postponed from last year. I was well looked after by the “Speaker host”. My cousin had booked me for the talk, but had kept quiet about the relationship as well as the subject matter of my talk, fearing that it might have deterred some people from coming.

A misprint in their programme gave my talk as “A Peer Behind the Scenes”. This meant that some attendees were expecting a talk about the House of Lords; now I’m not sure whether that as a subject is more offputting than ballet!

However, there was a good turn out and my talk was well recieved. I did wonder how it would go though, as, after I introduced myself saying that I had to live up to my cousin’s recommendation that I was interesting, I was informed by a member of the audience that it was my talk that was interesting and not me.
