A bit of an early start; well not really but once you’re retired getting up at 7 is no longer a necessity and just seems early. Of course, knowing that I needed to get up earlier than usual, I couldn’t get to sleep. Was I as fresh as a daisy? Possibly not! However, I found a very welcoming group of about 50 people. The speaker secretary told me that since the end of restrictions, and monthly meetings have resumed, they haven’t had such a good turnout.
My talk was very well received and I was invited back, there and then, to give another talk next March. So many attendees came to me afterwards to chat and ask questions. My observation is that folk would rather do that than raise their hand to ask publicly.
People are sometimes reluctant to come to a talk about ballet, thinking it’s not for them, (the talk or the art form) but are pleasantly surprised by the content and are really engaged.
I love giving these talks, meeting so many different people, and, of course, raising money for the MS Society. Danbury, Eve’s Corner WI tomorrow and 3 more before the end of the month.
