On Valentine’s Day I ventured out in the evening onto the marshes in north Essex for the first meeting of the Tollesbury WI since restrictions were lifted. A lively interest in my talk and a warm welcome from the members who were so pleased to back out in social gatherings. My departure was marked by the arrival of a young lad, on an electric scooter, declaring his love for me before racing away into the darkness. His friend whizzed past shouting “Happy Valentine’s Day lady.” Only in Tollesbury!
This month I returned to Harwood Ladies’ PROBUS. A most enjoyable lunch in convivial company. The speaker secretary invited me to join the group. Maybe, one day, when I can find the time. It is always rewarding to be invited back to speak. I like to think it’s because they’ve enjoyed my talks so much that they’d like more, rather than it is a difficult and onerous task for speaker secretaries to source varied and entertaining speakers once a month.
I’d love to have some more bookings for this year; please get in touch if you’ve got a gap in your schedules.
