Tuesday afternoon I visited Leigh-on-Sea WI (afternoon group). It was so good to be back in front of a real live audience.
A couple of technical hitches: the new lead to my laptop wouldn’t fit into the extension cable drum, and then, horror of horrors. POWERPOINT decided that it wasn’t going to advance in a slide show. (A trial the night before had been fine.)
One member, the possessor of an ipad, was sent over to give me technical advice. I tried the turn it off and on again route to no avail. In such situations there’s no time to faff around trying to get on-line help so I had the visual prompts from my laptop but no slide show. It was solved fairly easily that evening by “repairing” the programme.
I just had to start talking.
They seemed to enjoy the talk, and being approached afterwards to talk to another group confirmed that it was well received. It was just such a shame that I couldn’t show the beautiful photographs that I have. Bouncing off a live audience, of course, makes such a big difference; I hope that they enjoyed it as much as I did.
