I’ve contacted all of the speaker secretaries from clubs that had cancelled in-person talks because of the restrictions, and surprised that many of them, whilst keen to restart their activities are unable to because of difficulties surrounding their venues; either they have been unable to make contact to confirm bookings or the venues have been unable or unwilling to confirm that they are open for business.
However, I have had some reassuring responses and am happy that I’ve been able to add some talk dates to my calendar.
I’d like to reassure clubs and their members that I am happy to continue wearing a mask and adhering to any social distancing measures that they choose to apply to their meetings.
Many are still very wary, understandably so, so I am very happy to comply. I know that masks can muffle speech and make life difficult, especially for those who might already have hearing impairments, but I will do my best to find ways of dealing with that.
