Christmas

  • by

It’s not going to be the Christmas that anyone had hoped for. So many people have suffered so badly this year; no-one has been unaffected. Some of us will have empty spaces at our tables and in our hearts; very few of us will have ever experienced such an uncertain time.

The vaccine should begin to make improvements to how we can behave but that’s a long time away. Isolation and loneliness is such a major concern to us all. Many members of WIs and U3As and other groups relied on those gatherings and meetings to ease their loneliness and that too has gone. Although the friendships made through those groups has stayed strong there is no substitute for real human contact. Some of these groups might never return. A sentiment that I have heard expressed by several groups with more elderly members.

That will be a sad outcome but I hope that the majority of groups will resurface, and with renewed vigour.

I hope that 2021 will bring better fortune and better health for the world; and I hope to see you too. I miss you all.
