What a lovely welcome today! Sometimes parking is a problem at some venues. I’ve seen cones and chairs with hand written pieces of paper stuck on but I’ve not seen this before in over 150 venues. Albeit, it had fallen over, but a lovely sentiment. Arriving at a venue and finding that one has to lug a screen, safety mats, extension cable, tutu, costume and accessory box, plus laptop and projector across a rainy windswept car park is hardly a friendly welcome. I always research a venue and ask, politely, that a space is reserved for me but it doesn’t always work.
Once inside I found a warm welcome and very amenable WI “officials” who were happy to change the order to allow me to speak first before their business.
An attentive audience is always a plus; it was encouraging to know that some of those attending were members of other WIs where I had already spoken and had been very keen to hear me speak again.
My next talk is to the wonderful women of Fox Hatch WI. My home turf. I’ve never joined the local WI because they meet on Tuesday evenings and Tuesday evenings are sacrosanct; class with Elisabeth Swan of Weston School of Dance & Performing Arts in Chelmsford.
